Klezmer and World Music Day with Jon Banks

Play the exhilarating dance melodies of Eastern European Klezmer, gain an insight into fascinating Mediterranean and Arabic rhythms and try some gentle improvisation. Instruments such as violins, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets and guitars are welcome.  Please ask about other instruments.  Players should be competent on their instrument (around Grade V).

Please bring a packed lunch, and if possible, a music stand.

Cost:  adults £35, students and unwaged £17. Booking essential

Dr. Jon Banks

Jon is a multi-instrumentalist and musicologist with a wide range of musical skills and experience.  He is in demand for his musical versatility in film and theatre, and has toured with several bands:  currently he plays with ZRI, an ensemble that plays Brahms in the spirit of a gypsy band.  He lectures in ethnomusicology and leads the World Music Ensemble at Anglia Ruskin University.
